After several jobs in Rockhampton during my first 12 months I joined Queensland's Rail in October 1974 and worked for 46 years mainly as a train driver in the Central Queensland area. I retired November 2020 and am currently living in Brisbane.

I have had a diverse career – travel, real estate, motel, hospital, TAFE teacher, geotechnical consulting engineering, Outdoor Educator and OHS in Health prior to retirement. During my time at RHS I was a keen tennis player and swimmer however moved on to squash, indoor cricket and canoeing (canoe, kayak, outrigger, dragon boating) as an adult. My most memorable and humbling achievement was a gold medal for kayaking the Murray Marathon (404 km over 5 days). Whilst I claim not to cook I have won prizes for cooking at state level for QCWA. Being heavily into handcrafts I am a State Bar holder which qualifies me to teach as well as judge at shows - my current project is building a timber buffet cabinet to go under my state of the art sewing machine …Memory of Mr Chidgey, maths science teacher whose bark was worse than his bite - he seemed to be forever having to pull the 'boys' from Depot Hill into line for misbehaving

Moved here from Biloela so made friends with other "out of towners" - generally positive memories - some lifetime friends still in contact today.
