I attended RSHS in 1962-63, completing Junior (Year 10), and then went on to complete an Electrical Apprenticeship followed by a Certificate in Electrical Engineering. I spent just over 47 years working in the Electricity Supply Industry in Rockhampton and, at retirement in August 2011, was a Technical Officer in HV Substation Design. I guess I could have put more effort into my secondary schooling & involvement in school activities as a student, but still managed to get on well with my teachers (at least, I hope I did) - John Cook, Des McLucas, Ed Blackburn, Tom Susans, Frank Smith, Neil Russell, Miss Owens & Mr Mahoney. I married in 1972 and Eunice & I have three children now aged 43, 40 & 39, all of whom also attended RSHS and enjoyed their secondary schooling and getting involved in as much as they could. All three were School Captains in their respective Year 12 and achieved extremely well academically, two of them being awarded Dux of the School. As parents, Eunice & I also became quite involved with the school - Eunice with Mother's Club & Tuckshop and me as Treasurer of the P&C Association for a number of years. During these years, we came to appreciate what a great school RSHS was, and also the many dedicated & committed teachers. We still have involvement in the school through Awards Night (previously known as Speech Night), fundraising for School Chaplaincy and assisting with Car Parking on the school ovals for events being held at the Showgrounds - a great fundraising activity. Looking forward to the Centenary Celebrations.

I commenced my four years of High School at the new Wandal Campus in 1960 and graduated from Form VI in 1963. I began the first year of my teaching career at RHS in 1968. After transferring for two years to a smaller school in North Qld I was promoted and posted back to RHS as Geography Subject Master at the start of 1971. . I held this position in my old school until the end of 1978 when I transferred to the Gold Coast where I continue to reside after retirement in 2005.

I'm looking forward to these Centenary Celebrations next year and to meeting folks that I haven't seen for many years. Rocky High was indeed a very special school in the sixties and it was our good fortune to be part of this-- quality teachers and a great student population.
